Training workshop that focused on non-tariff measures (NTMs) and Market Access, was delivered to 20 participants from trade support institutions, policy makers and business entities in Burundi.
Relevant international trade concepts including live demonstrations of selected ITC Tools in export market analysis of priority Burundian products were delivered in the training that contributed to improve the capacity of trade professionals in the country.
ITC’s Programme on NTMs aims at increasing transparency and helping countries better understand the non-tariff obstacles to trade faced by their business sectors. It ensures the concerns of small and medium-sized enterprises about regulatory and procedural trade obstacles are brought to the attention of policymakers and other stakeholders at the national, regional and multilateral level. This enables them to take concrete actions. ITC is engaged in multi-agency initiatives that assist countries in finding solutions tailored to meet their specific needs.
The training was held under the EU-EAC MARKUP II programme funded by the European Union. A workshop on the topic was also held in Uganda.
Two workshops were held in Dar es Salam, Tanzania for training experts on market analysis and reactivating the network of existing trainers from the first phase of EU-EAC MARKUP.
