Online workshop on EUDR

Overall, the workshop aims to facilitate constructive dialogue, mutual understanding, and collective action towards achieving sustainability and compliance objectives within Rwanda coffee value chain. By engaging stakeholders at various levels and ensuring effective coordination, the workshop seeks to lay the groundwork for impactful interventions and long-term success.

The specific objectives of the workshop are as follows:

  • Clarification on latest updates and FAQs on EUDR: ITC team will present the latest news and clarifications on EUDR, building on its interactions with DG Environment colleagues from Brussels and active participation in various multi-stakeholder platforms focusing on EUDR.
  • Presenting status and planned way forward: ITC will provide an overview of the current status of its support initiatives in EAC and in Rwanda in particular and outline the planned activities under the MARKUP II program. This will include highlighting the progress made so far and detailing the proposed strategies for future implementation.
  • Gathering inputs and validation: The workshop will serve as a platform to gather inputs and feedback from all participating stakeholders regarding the proposed support from ITC. This will enable stakeholders to share their perspectives, insights, and suggestions, ensuring that the plans align with the needs and priorities of the local coffee industry.
  • Ensuring coordination and collaboration: One of the primary objectives of the workshop is to foster coordination and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in promoting sustainability and compliance within the Rwandan coffee sector. Through interactive discussions and deliberations, the workshop will clarify roles, responsibilities, and expectations, thus enhancing synergies and maximizing the impact of interventions.
  • Clarification on available support: The workshop will provide a comprehensive understanding of the support mechanisms available from ITC through the MARKUP II program. This will include detailing the resources, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives that can be accessed by stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of the activities.
