A workshop focusing on processing and trade aspects of the Gum arabic sector in South Sudan was held on 7 November in Juba.
27 participants from the public and private sector engaged in the consultative sessions aiming to directly improve business level issues including value addition and business management, and indirectly improve tapping and other post-harvest handling issues at the harvest level.
Business representatives shared valuable perspectives for defining ways to provide value addition, transfer technology and build capacity for post-harvest processing while integrating aspects of resource efficiency and environmental conservation through the EU-EAC MARKUP II programme funded by the European Union.
Export business management skills will also be developed as part of the project activities in the Gum Arabic sector in South Sudan.
